The 20 crypto pioneers you need to follow on Twitter

People ask me what cryptocurrency or token to invest in. As in most cases, the best investment is in your own education. Follow and surround yourself with the best people to learn from!

This year I discovered the crypto community of Twitter and decided to drastically reduce my time on Facebook. Not everyone relevant in crypto is on Twitter, but if they’re on any social network, it’s probably Twitter.

Why? Brevity. Reach. Quality.

See below their name (link to Twitter profile), one reason to follow them, and a representative tweet (imo).

1. Nick Szabo

Described smart contracts in 1994. Came up with bit gold, Bitcoin’s father.

2. Adam Back

Cypherpunk. Almost invented Bitcoin. Played hard to get with Satoshi.

3. Vitalik Buterin

Godfather of ICOs. A selfie with him will make you a millionaire.

4. Andreas Antonopoulos

Eloquently explains why bitcoin is “Internet of money”, not “Internet money”.

5. Naval Raavikant

Made it cool for Sillicon Valley investors to get involved in crypto.

6. Erik Voorhees

Made a tool to easily exchange cyptocurrencies. No state needed.

7. Elizabeth Stark

Cheap and reliable bitcoin transactions. Lightning fast!

8. Jameson Lopp

Seems like the stereotypical bitcoiner. Human-shaped honey badger.

9. Peter Todd

He could be our canary in the mine. Skeptical. Reluctant. Fraud exposer.

10. Tuur Demeester

Not sure why he’s on the list, it just seems right.

11. Chris Burninske

Really good at understanding markets and seeing relevant trends.

12. Elaine Ou

Working to make bitcoin more resilient. Radio is the new Internet.

13. Whale Panda

Who wouldn’t want to have a whale panda on their side?

14. Riccardo Spagni

Monero Enterprise Alliance CEO. Online nobody knows you’re a fluffy pony.

15. Charlie Lee

Copy-pasted Bitcoin and named it Litecoin. Everyone is very cool about it.

16. Roger Ver

Bitcoin Jesus and Bitcoin Cash God. He cried for our sins. #bcash

17. Tone Vays

Draws squiggly lines on charts. Accurately predicts BTC price might fluctuate.

18. Bitcoin EDU

Your go-to profile for learning about Bitcoin in a neutral manner.

19. Ameer Rosic

Marketer turned blockchain evangelist. Self-taught. Now teaching others.

20. Taylor Pearson

Avid for understanding the possibilities with crypto. Fascinating insights.

Having finished the list, I’m already thinking of a few more people that should be on the (extended) list: Jonas Schnelli, Wladimir van der Laan, Ari Paul, Olaoluwa Osuntokun, etc.

Feel free to suggest additions to the list, but keep in mind I’ve intentionally excluded some high-profile people for the simple reason that they’re either proven liars and/or simply bad people.

Last but not least, I really wished these titans were (still) on Twitter:

Wei Dai, creator of Bitcoin precursor b-money (1998). You can find him here though.

Hal Finney [RIP], the first adopter of Bitcoin. His story, here.

Long live Bitcoin and the future it brings!
